US President Donald Trump announced after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the sidelines of the World Economic Summit in Davos, Switzerland, that the United States and its interlocutors had "formed the framework of a future agreement" regarding Greenland.
Trump said that, based on that "deal", he would not impose tariffs on European countries that were scheduled to take effect on February 1.
He added that more information would be released as the talks progressed.
According to him, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, as well as other officials as needed, will be in charge of the negotiations.
The US president said it was "a deal that everyone is happy with" and that the United States got "everything we wanted."
Speaking about the agreement, Trump said in an interview with CNBC that it was "a little complex," adding that it would be explained "in the coming period."
"This will be valid forever," he said, explaining the long-term nature of the agreement.
