United States President Donald Trump said that a "large fleet" of US naval forces was heading towards Iran, and that Washington was "watching the country closely".
"We have a large force heading towards Iran. I would rather not see anything happen, we are watching them very carefully... We have an armada, we have a massive fleet heading in that direction," Trump told reporters last night during a flight on Air Force One, in a video released by the White House.
Trump added that he "may not have to" use the fleet, and that this has not yet been determined.
When asked by reporters whether he would like Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to leave office or go into exile, Trump said he didn't want to get into that right now.
"There's a lot of killing there," Trump said.
He added that he is not giving up on tariffs for companies doing business with Iran.
"If you do business with Iran, you will have a 25 percent tariff," Trump said.
