A gunman in Thailand who opened fire and took hostages at a school has been arrested, and all hostages have been freed, a police official said.
The attacker, an 18-year-old man, entered Patongpratankiriwat School in Hat Yai city, Songkla province, in Hat Yai district in southern Thailand today with a gun, Reuters reports.
One student and one teacher were wounded during the attack.
In a video shared by a witness to the attack, armed police officers can be seen storming the school as gunfire can be heard from inside.
Gun violence is not uncommon in Thailand, where a former police officer killed 36 people, including 22 children, in a similar attack on a kindergarten in 2022.
