Mark Epstein, the brother of convicted American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein who was found dead in a New York City jail cell on August 10, 2019, has accused the US Department of Justice of covering up his murder.
"Now I know he was murdered," said Mark Epstein, making serious accusations against the US administration in an interview with BFM television.
After Jeffrey Epstein was found hanging in his cell in a New York prison on August 10, 2019, Mark Epstein went to the scene to identify his brother's body, accompanied by two medical examiners.
"After the autopsy, they said they couldn't conclude it was suicide, because everything looked too much like murder. In the original death certificate, the wording 'pending further investigation' was listed under the 'cause of death' section," said Mark Epstein.
However, he adds, a few days later, autopsy results were released, according to which Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in his cell.
The brother of a late sex offender says today he is convinced "Jeffrey knew too much".
"During the 2016 election, when Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were competing, Jeffrey said: 'If I were to say what I know about those two candidates, the election would have to be overturned.' I accuse the Justice Department of covering up Jeffrey's murder," Mark Epstein told BFM.
French television notes that he is not the only one to publicly make such a claim, stating that on February 13, in the Telegraph, Dr. Michael Biden, one of the doctors who, as an observer representing the Epstein family, was present at Jeffrey Epstein's autopsy, stated that the cause of his death should have been the subject of a reinvestigation.
"I think his death was most likely caused by pressure from strangulation, not hanging. Given all the information we currently have, a deeper investigation into the cause and circumstances of death is warranted," the doctor told the British newspaper.
Mark Epstein says the release of Epstein-related files is "diversion."
"I think it's all partly a diversion to keep people from getting interested in the fact that he was killed."
Mark Epstein also says that an independent investigation into his brother's death has been conducted, which led to the conclusion that he was murdered, and the results of that investigation, as he announced in an interview, will be published in a few months, Tanjug reports.
