The United States (US) and Iran continued to exchange attacks this morning, days after contradictory messages were released about the status of ceasefire negotiations, Beta news agency reports.
The US claims to have intercepted missiles and drones launched by Iran towards the Strait of Hormuz, CNN reports. Iran fired several "warning" shots near the strait, while the US military attacked coastal surveillance radar sites in Iran after shooting down four drones, Mehr news agency reports.
Danger sirens were activated in Kuwait and Bahrain this morning, and the Kuwaiti military said it was responding to threats.
Attacks continued in Lebanon, where more than 20 people were killed yesterday.
Reuters reported earlier today that the United States Central Command (US) - CENTCOM announced yesterday that US forces had intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
A statement from CENTCOM said Iran fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain hours after CENTCOM shot down four Iranian drones for a single attack, which were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz.
It added that these drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.
US forces then carried out strikes on Iranian coastal surveillance radar stations in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further threats to maritime traffic, the statement said.
CENTCOM said preliminary assessments indicate that six missiles launched by Iran were intercepted, while the seventh missed its intended target.
