US President Donald Trump said today he had canceled planned attacks on Iran, hours after threatening new bombings and expressing a desire to "occupy" the island of Kharg, a key oil export hub.
"Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been elevated to the highest levels of Iranian leadership and approved, I, as President of the United States, have canceled planned strikes and bombings against Iran tonight," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Trump said the "talks and final points" were approved by the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt and others.
"The naval blockade will remain in full force until this agreement is finalized - the time and place of signing will be announced soon," he said.
