Israeli authorities announced today that they have denied entry into the country at Tel Aviv airport to French journalist Alice Frussard, who has been reporting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for Radio France and Radio France Internationale (RFI) for several years.
The decision comes two days after France banned Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich from entering the country.
Alice Frusar "attempted to enter Israel and continue her work here permanently, but the ministry's recommendation was accepted and the journalist was deported and flown back to France," Israeli Minister of Diaspora and Combating Anti-Semitism Amichai Chikli wrote on social media.
He accused the journalist of being a supporter of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
RFI condemned the deportation, describing it as a threat to media freedom.
The radio station specified that its journalist "has the necessary travel permit and a valid journalist visa application to work in the West Bank."
She added that "the Israeli authorities did not provide RFI with any explanation for this decision."
