Katz: Israel has no plans to withdraw from Lebanon

Israel's defense minister said today that Israel will not withdraw from territories it has seized in Lebanon, potentially calling into question the interim ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran that Iran and the United States reached yesterday.

Details of the agreement have not yet been made public, and Iran has signaled that implementation will not begin until the signing, which is scheduled for Friday.

Katz said Israel plans to remain in the territories occupied in Lebanon, Syria and the Gaza Strip "indefinitely."

Katz also threatened that if Iran attacks Israel over Lebanon, Israel will respond with "great force."

Over the past two and a half years, Israel has taken control of areas in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria totaling 1.000 square kilometers.
