Iranian authorities deny US claims, claim all ships have been prevented from passing through Hormuz

The Persian Gulf Authority, a body formed by Iran during the war to implement a digital transit authorization system, said today that "due to recent illegal movements of US military forces in the region, transit through the Strait of Hormuz is currently not possible."

"As soon as stability and peace are established, all requests will be reviewed according to the established schedule and the necessary authorizations will be issued," the administration said on social media, adding that the only way to obtain a transit permit is through its website.

The US Central Command for the Middle East (CentCom) announced the exact opposite earlier today, stating that the strait is currently open.

"The Strait of Hormuz is currently open to all vessels seeking to legally transit this international waterway," CentCom said, adding that Iran no longer controls the strait.

"US forces are deployed and ready to ensure continued freedom of navigation despite Iran's unwarranted aggression, harassment, threats and arbitrary statements," it said in a social media post, adding that maritime traffic was proceeding normally.
