At least eight people have died and 34 are missing after a landslide in the city of Chongqing, in southwestern China, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Rescue teams were still searching for survivors today.
The landslide occurred on Friday morning in Pengshui County, when huge amounts of rock and soil tumbled down a slope, burying more than a dozen residential buildings.
Ten people were rescued and taken to hospital, while more than 1.100 people were evacuated.
