The US military announced today that two American soldiers were killed and one was missing after Iranian attacks on a base in Jordan, the Associated Press reported.
The US military said in a statement that two soldiers were killed on Friday as US forces and their allies in the Middle East defended against ballistic missiles and drones from Iran.
It is reported that four other military personnel were evacuated from a hospital in Jordan and later released from treatment.
Reuters reported earlier today that Iran has carried out new attacks on US allies in the Persian Gulf.
In Kuwait, a desalination plant was hit and operations at the International Airport were suspended due to repeated threats with missiles and drones.
The Kuwaiti Oil Corporation announced afterwards that one of its oil facilities had been hit in new attacks by Iran.
The facility was damaged in the attack, and a small number of people were injured.
Kuwait's armed forces said they intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles and drones this morning, adding that a large number of firefighters and oil sector workers were injured.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard said earlier today that it had attacked an air base used by the US in Bahrain in response to a US bombing.
Saudi Arabia's early warning system urged residents of Al-Harj and Yanbu to take shelter today.
Two anonymous sources told Reuters that the warning was issued in response to the Iranian attack, the first in more than three months.
In Al-Kharj, east of Riyadh, there is a military base housing American troops, while in Yanbu, on the Red Sea, there is an important oil export terminal.
Saudi state media did not say why the warning was issued, and the government's media office did not comment to Reuters.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard did not announce that it attacked Saudi Arabia today.
