Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni began meetings with mediators in Pakistan today, as Tehran and Washington continue their mutual attacks, which are also affecting other Middle Eastern countries.
Pakistan has intensified diplomatic efforts in recent days to revive a fragile ceasefire between the United States (US) and Iran, but it is not known what new agreement might be reached after the re-escalation of the conflict.
Tehran attacked a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz early this morning, while the US carried out another series of attacks on Iran.
The escalation of the conflict has once again led to a rise in oil and fuel prices, and a temporary ceasefire agreement has collapsed.
US President Donald Trump warned on social media yesterday that "every time Iran kills an American soldier, they will pay for that killing many times over."
