Qatar denied on Monday that it was holding Iranian pilots, saying they had violated Qatari airspace earlier this year and had not responded to attempts to contact them, Reuters news agency reported.
A spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry told the X network that search and rescue teams later found the remains of one of the pilots and that Qatar had contacted Iran to coordinate their handover.
The spokesman said Tehran had not yet responded to an invitation to discuss the details of Qatari operations.
Iran claims that Qatari armed forces have captured and are holding three Iranian pilots who went missing in March when their planes were shot down during the conflict.
So far, Tehran has claimed it has no information about the pilots.
A statement today by the Missing Persons Committee of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said that Qatar violated the pilots' rights by not allowing them to meet or communicate with their families or with Iranian officials, despite diplomatic efforts.
