US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are due to arrive in Moscow tomorrow for further talks on Ukraine, but the prospects for progress are considered "extremely slim" by the Russian side, the American agency Bloomberg reported, citing sources close to the Kremlin.
Previous visits by the two envoys have not brought any progress, while Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly ready to end the war only on his own terms.
Moscow, which believes it has a military advantage, has reportedly even toughened its demands, Bloomberg reports.
The main obstacle remains territorial. Russia continues to demand that Ukraine give up the parts of Donetsk Oblast it still controls, a demand that Kiev refuses.
Witkoff and Kushner are then scheduled to travel to Kiev on Sunday, where Ukrainian authorities are still hoping for "new momentum" in the Washington-led peace efforts, Bloomberg added.
