A magnitude 6 earthquake hit Peru

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6 on the Richter scale hit the Amazon region in the north of Peru today, and according to the first reports, there were no damage or injuries, although the earthquake was strongly felt in the region even in neighboring Colombia and Ecuador.

The US Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred during the afternoon local time in a sparsely populated area 263 kilometers northeast of the Peruvian city of Iquitos.

In the capital of neighboring Ecuador, Quito, people ran out of buildings and into the squares for fear of an earthquake.

In Colombia, the earthquake was felt in the cities of Pasto, Bogota, Manizales and Armenia, and the Colombian authorities did not report any damage.
