Interpol has issued a red warrant for four people who are linked to the murder of Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Malaysian police have confirmed the identity of Kim Jong Nam, who was killed last month in Kuala Lumpur, by analyzing a DNA sample obtained from one of his children.

This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Hamidi also said that negotiations began this Sunday that should resolve the diplomatic tension between Malaysia and North Korea caused by Pyongyang's non-acceptance of the autopsy results of the deceased half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Malaysian police, who have identified seven North Korean nationals in connection with the murder, requested Interpol's help last month, Reuters reported.

Among those wanted by the police are four people who are believed to have managed to return to Pyongyang.

Malaysian authorities said Kim was killed on February 13 when two women smeared VX nerve agent on his face at an airport terminal in Kuala Lumpur. Although Kim carried a passport bearing the name Kim Chol, police said last Sunday that they had established his identity but would not say how.

Zahid said authorities obtained a DNA sample from one of Kim's children.
