Another explosion rocked Damascus today, after a suicide bomber blew himself up in the courthouse in the center of the Syrian capital, killing at least 31 people, Syrian state television reported.
At least 31 people were killed and 60 wounded in the attack that took place earlier in the courtroom in Damascus, according to new data.
"A terrorist blew himself up in the old Palace of Justice in Damascus. There are dead and wounded," state television reported, AFP reported.
The bomber detonated the explosives in his vest after police tried to prevent him from entering the court building, senior state legal official Ahmed al-Sajid told Al-Ihbariya television, according to Reuters.
The Sana agency reported that a second suicide bomber blew himself up in a restaurant near the Rabveh neighborhood, killing several people and wounding more.
Sana did not specify the number of victims.
Ihbariyeh TV reported that the police were chasing the attacker when he ran into the restaurant and activated his explosive vest.
For now, there are no further details about the attacks, for which no one has yet claimed responsibility.
On Saturday, a double suicide attack was carried out in Damascus in which dozens of people were killed, most of them Iraqi Shiite pilgrims, and the responsibility for that attack was taken by an alliance of jihadist groups known as Tahrir al-Sham, reminds the British agency.
