Islamic State (IS) drones, like the ones you can buy in a grocery store, are disrupting the advance of Iraqi troops as they fight to regain control of western Mosul with US support.
CBS News reports that on the outskirts of this city, which is the third largest in Iraq, Iraqi forces supported by the US military are slowly conquering territory held by IS.
American television, however, states that a week after the start of the battle for the western part of Mosul, after the Iraqi forces captured the international airport there and began to push forward, that progress became very slow.
The reason is that the operation is disrupted by Islamic State drones that sometimes fly in groups of three to five quadcopters, unmanned aerial vehicles that have four propellers each.
Jihadists throw hand grenades and artillery shells from them, while Amak, the ID agency, also published a video showing a direct hit on an Iraqi armored personnel carrier.
