At least 17 people were killed in a stampede at a football stadium in the northern Angolan town of Uyge, local officials said.
Hundreds of people were injured when fans rushed the entrance after being unable to get tickets.
In the general commotion and crowding, many fell and suffocated, hospital sources said, BBC reports.

The stadium, which holds 8.000 spectators, was supposed to play a first league match between the clubs "Santa Rita da Casija" and "Rekrativo do Libolo".
"76 people were admitted to the hospital, 17 of whom died," Ernesto Luis, director of the local hospital, told Reuters.
He added that five people are in critical condition.
