Four Croatian citizens were arrested on suspicion of being involved in a series of robberies, and the house of a Premier League football player was also targeted by burglars.
Earlier this month, Newcastle striker Alexander Isaac's home in Darras Hall, Northumberland, was broken into and his car stolen.
Cash, designer clothes worth thousands of pounds and jewelery worth a million pounds were also stolen from other homes in Sunderland and Newcastle.

"Crimes like this will not be tolerated," said Deputy Inspector Sean Ford, from the North East Organized Crime Unit (NEROCU).
Isak's house was ransacked on April 4, while the car was found abandoned three miles away, police said.
Valuables stolen
Cash, expensive clothes and jewelery worth a total of more than £1 million were stolen from homes in Jesmond and Sunderland.
The police later managed to return part of the valuables, they stated in NEROCU.
Four Croatian citizens aged 23, 27, 31 and 42, who recently came to Great Britain from Italy, were arrested on Friday.
They have been charged with robbery and are due to appear in court at a later date.
