MORE THAN WORDS

The horror dimension hardly needs elaboration, but the comedy of confusion elements are interesting. Namely, a member of Milošević's deputy triumvirate for Montenegro became the charismatic father of independence, and the feathers of former independent journalism are today the last line of defense of a corrupt system and its creators.

Well, clearly: Marko will not be fired, his contract will only expire, and DPS is not laundering money, but rather some technical problems, as Lukšić, unfortunately, explained, by the way proving how tenuous the hopes for his independence were. It seems to me that he is about as independent as Montenegro was, say, in 1993: there were rumors about it (Milo is, it seems, a great Montenegrin), but there was no talk of independence. Nor here - about technical issues: it seems to me that it is more about moral issues. That's what relaxation is for you - those who are considered masters of the game sometimes falter as beginners.

At the rally in support of Marko Milačić, we also heard an interesting reminder, which largely explains the nature of the current media scene in Montenegro. Today's regime kerbers from the media were then mostly persecuted by some regime kerbers from the media at the time. But, as we have seen, that experience did not make them morally superior: when they felt like it, when it was expected of them, they did the same or even more perfidious things.

Admittedly, today's look at the nineties brings extremely unusual insights and realizations - as if you are watching a combination of the most gruesome horror and comedy of confusion, which, you must admit, is a hell of a genre combination.

By the way, the fate of another member of the governor's council at that time, the most educated among them, "Markuze from Krimovice", Marović, is significant. He wanted to be Milo's Kardelj, avoided becoming Milo's Đilas, so, by all accounts, he will end up like Milo's Ranković: all (common) sins will be blamed on him.

A good part of the members of the broad intellectual emancipation movement of that time are now Kerbers of a closed mind, and creators of anachronistic and primitive (Together, Montenegrins) nationalism. The story that Montenegrin nationalism does not exist could have worked in the era of flourishing socialism, but today only those who do not want to see things can say that.

It is necessary to understand why the broad emancipatory movement that led to the restoration of the independence of Montenegro was so stratified - after all, this is natural. At the time of opposition to Serbian nationalism, it is obvious today, some were against it because it was nationalism, while others were against it because it was Serbian. It is this awareness that is the creator of that effect when it seems to you today that many things in the promotion, state and media, of Montenegro are irresistibly reminiscent of those matrices that we remember well from the time of the heyday of Serbian nationalism.

So - some fought against nationalism, and others only for changing the national sign. After that, you will be able to understand more easily the current state of the public scene: and why exactly that concept of language won, and why there are eligible and ineligible artists and intellectuals, and who is at the mercy of the government and why, how a false media image is created, with the help of a few mujahideen and a few city intriguers, along with the dreary parrot existences of the ever-ready pseudo-journalists.

Sometimes it seems that the intellectual scene here resembles the scenes of squares from the paintings of Voj Stanić - everyone is the same, almost everyone seems funny, and as if stunned...

The recent trials regarding the Aphrodite affair brought some extremely bizarre moments. Thus, we learn from the testimony of a certain lady (stage name Maja, if I remember correctly) that in addition to her activities in the night club, this lady also worked at the local state television, today's public service. And not only a journalist, this "friend of the night" was also engaged in writing - so she notes that she also published a book. In the midst of a prostitution scandal, a person who was engaged in journalism and literature appears. (So in her case – the stage name really makes sense and is fully justified.)

Perhaps it would be good if the stars of today's Montenegrin court journalism (and court literature, of course) start taking stage names, like their colleagues from Aphrodite. To keep things genre clean.

It would be even more fun for a young journalist who is waiting to be fired: for example, the bosses could sign his dismissal with stage names. That would be, if you ask me, a very charming dismissal: You no longer work in our house, under the signature – Hot Cecilia, or Lustful Žužu...
