The birth of the legal profession (both as a calling and as a social obligation) is one of the key points in the formulation of civilization, a marker that rejoices savagery and culture.

Thanks to such an aura, this profession has, and deserves, a very special place in every society. Hence the inertia that makes you believe that the adjective "reputable" always goes with the noun lawyer.

There is even, in every society, a kind of lawyer mythology. The greats of the profession are remembered, cult sentences remain behind them, anecdotes, quick answers, bravado of the spirit. That's why names like Joro Barović or Tripko Žugić are remembered... or, more recently, Srđe Popović, who was a legendary lawyer name for my generation, and even more than that. The man who defended members of the Bader-Meinhof group. Those names remain as a kind of true moral lesson - how to always find a way to be fair and good. This is the essence of every morality, since it was human.

These were distinguished lawyers...

Therefore, I must admit, it seems sad when we see a lawyer on a public mission of spreading hatred and stupidity. A "reputable" lawyer attacks the LGBT population, which is already threatened from all sides, projecting and hyperizing petty-bourgeois clichés.

By announcing, on the other hand, the "twisting of the neck", the lawyer shows a somewhat frightening policy of punishment. Not only is this mode anachronistic and inappropriate even for speaking, it is, as a verbal expression, profoundly sadistic. Twisting a needle as a possibility may excite a certain type of personality (it certainly has a medical name), but I don't believe that such a person should practice law.

And only the wording "in front of my children"!? A true pearl of Damascus. There is so much darkness in this profoundly flirtatious formulation. The mention of children should add drama and believability to the whole story.

Would he "twist the neck" of a heterosexual couple who would "chew" (and only that expression cannot hide resistance to the very act of kissing), "in front of my children". Again, it is not clear why anyone, regardless of erotic orientation, would do anything in front of someone's children? Where did the children come from in the whole story? Aren't they already in bed?

I, for one, believe that children are more damaged by domestic violence than by scenes of kisses, whatever they may be. And, unfortunately - domestic violence is much more present.

Today's children grow up seeing a lot that they shouldn't. From television scenes to pictures from the environment. However, it is unlikely that you will "save them from harm" by "twisting their necks" around. You should broaden children's horizons, not narrow them to the level of semi-mythical ancestors from three hundred years ago.

It is a way of thinking that is deeply disturbing when it comes from a public figure, from someone who is engaged in public work of the highest importance. The lawyer's vocation used to imply "chosenness", which was first of all reflected in the refusal to be part of the pack, and the strength to stand against the crowd. If he becomes the mouthpiece of the crowd, the lawyer is certainly not worthy of the job.

The lawyer who is the anti-hero of today's column also fumbled with the defense. And that should worry a lawyer. He mentions that the reason for the "campaign" is that he is a lawyer of the SOC in Montenegro.

Therefore, he wants to turn out to be a political victim, and not what he is: (so far only) a verbal bully. It is just a miserable maneuver and unworthy of a serious man. I believe that he would gain more sympathy from the public if he simply apologized for the nonsense he wrote...

And it is also possible that the lawyer has started to look too much like the employer. We have heard similar hateful statements towards the same population countless times from the Metropolitan of the SPC in Montenegro, but also from other church addresses.

No doubt: like rejoices like.

We will have to learn to be less surprised: the time of degradation of everything has not bypassed almost any profession.

What an age, what lawyers do...
