First of all, I wish you as much normality as possible in the new summer, as abnormal as such a wish may sound. Because, someone will say - wanting normality is like wanting zero, but it's not exactly like that. Then when normality - from taken for granted became a desired state, this society - took a wrong turn. And you should be aware of that.
Another year marked by the same "big theme" is behind us. We did not see off the corona as we might have hoped. This whole pandemic shift has been going on for too long. Despite appearances, it is hard to say that the world has remained the same. When we see them, things have already happened a long time ago... We are just discovering new forms of reality. And it will be there - anything and everything.
Maybe the strain was named omikron way for the corona - to falter. Some experts shyly announce such a possibility - a strain that is less dangerous, but spreads more easily. Maybe micron is a way for the corona to immunize all of us? That would, in fact, be the total triumph of a virus - after everything it has done to humanity, to "proclaim" self-abolition, actually pacification through a new form.
And I bow down to vain hopes, as the greatest poet of Alexandria would say.
Nevertheless, the key New Year's image for us in Montenegro, in addition to all possible pandemics and new strains, is that desperate man from Bar who threatened to blow himself up in front of the bank... And where else, the cynic will mutter.
While the optimistic operetta about the state budget continues for days and weeks, and the creators, among other things, are given a gambler's approach to some solutions, the image of a man who has abandoned all optimism, all hope, brings you back to reality. You are playing with numbers, and no one can feed children with optimism or projected numbers. Not with any numbers and words.
There is a moment when a desperate man becomes a superman. That final insight - which is Marks on the occasion of the proletariat, formulated with the famous words "they have nothing to lose but their chains" - sometimes gives strength that is unimaginable to anyone from "this" side of society. That is why the desperado is an unusual plant - it is loved by art, but it is extremely dangerous for society, primarily as an insidious symptom. On the occasion of the gesture of the man from Bar, almost everyone showed affection and some kind of understanding for what he was doing. Especially since the thing ended - without a dramatic epilogue.
Politics here, or political everyday life, constantly produces desperate people, and not since yesterday. That trend marked the past thirty years - when, for example, dozens of factories like Primorka were looted and destroyed. Those investigations are waiting... Every day before the assembly or the government stands a group of miserable workers from the former economic giants. It has become an urban scene that no longer disturbs - everyday life that is stronger than any of our visions and optimism... In short - with so many desperate people, one society is a ticking time bomb.
I am afraid that there will be more and more such events.

This holiday is always a kind of recapitulation. An opportunity to look at the one you often overlook - yourself. And see if it could have been better, or not. What awaits you all? Do you deserve a better government? Do your children trust you? (That's the most important question.) After all, find the right questions, it belongs to you as a human being.
I want your own curiosity to surprise you more times than you expect, and that compassion, when you recognize it in yourself, does not disturb you. I want your new year to be marked by some new books to read, some new sounds to hear and some new images to be open to...
If such things are not new, the year is in vain - new.
