The Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism is preparing documentation for the international tender for the urban-architectural design of the Museum of Contemporary Art, which will be one of the largest tenders in the competition tradition of Montenegro.

At yesterday's meeting, the Government of Montenegro adopted the Information on the announcement of the International Competition for the conceptual architectural design of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Natural History and the Park of Culture and Art with accompanying contents.

It is one of the biggest projects in the recent history of Montenegro, which will gather the most important names from the world of architecture and not only from our area.

"The purpose of the competition is to choose the most visionary, innovative design for the future Museum complex in order to enrich the cultural heritage and history of Montenegro, enabling the creation of a platform for contemporary artistic expression. We expect to attract many talented architects and designers from all over the world through the competition, while the Ministry will also invite important names in world architecture to participate in this project," said chief state architect Vladan Stevović.

As they say from the Directorate for the Development of Architecture, the planned project is of great importance not only for the development of culture, but also for the development of architecture.

The members of the jury will be the chief state architect Vladan Stevović, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Vladislav Šćepanović, Dominique Perrault - Dominique Perrault Architecture, Odile Decq - Studio Odile Decq, Maurizio Meossi - Zaha Hadid Architects, Robert Schmitz - White Arkitekter and Mike Wood - ARUP. The Directorate of the Chief State Architect and Architecture Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Natural History and the Chamber of Engineers of Montenegro, prepared the tender documentation.

The goal of the Competition is to select a competitive solution that will provide the highest quality proposals for the urban solution of the space with the conceptual architectural solution of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Natural History, the House of Architecture and the Park of Culture and Art. The participants are expected to offer a solution that will contribute to changing the visual identity of both the narrow and wider city core.

The scope of the competition coincides with the cadastral plot number 2211/1 KO Podgorica II with an area of ​​50.685,94m2, which is state-owned.

The competition for the conceptual architectural design of the museum of contemporary art, the museum of natural history and the park of culture and art is an international, general competition with an invitation, one-stage and anonymous.

The right to participate in the competition has the right to all legal and natural persons who meet the conditions defined by the Call for Competition and the Competition Terms of Reference, as well as the invited participants of the competition, the five world-renowned architectural bureaus Sou Fujimoto, Janya Ishigami, Snøhetta, DILLER SCOFIDIO + RENFRO and bureau Henning Larsen.
