In the large hall of the Tivat Culture Center, the audience's applause and ovations marked the musical event of the year for all the people of Tivat the night before last - the traditional "New Year's concert" of the local Tivat Music and Educational Society.
As usual, the big concert that is held every year to meet the Christmas and New Year holidays, the City Music of Tivat prepared as a gift for its fellow citizens and once again confirmed the exceptional appreciation and love that this oldest active cultural association in Tivat enjoys among the residents of this city.
The connection with Music, as the locals have always colloquially called the Music and Educational Society "Tivat", is something that is passed down from generation to generation in the families of old Tivat residents, and has been going on for generations, for 114 years since the founding of City Music.
This was confirmed for the umpteenth time last night at the "New Year's Concert", where many visitors enjoyed a great and varied program performed by an ensemble of over sixty musicians on stage.
A large number of young musicians who performed on this occasion made a significant contribution to making the concert at the top level and confirmed the successful cooperation between the Tivat School of Music and GPD Tivat.
The ensemble played under the batons of the current chapelmaster of GPD "Tivat", Professor Nevile Klakor, or the former chapelmaster, Professor Martina Vuksanović.
The two of them, for this occasion, prepared a special rich program consisting of a potpourri of popular coastal and Dalmatian and international melodies, waltzes, opera arias and arrangements of well-known works of pop, rock and film music.
The concert began with the march "Tivat", which was written especially for GPD Tivat by Antun Kopitović from Kotor in 1971 in Buenos Aries. This was followed by the waltz "Danube Waves", the overture to the opera "Carmen" and several popular coastal, Boke and Damatin songs among the koijma and "Cesarica", and then the audience had the opportunity to hear some of the popular international songs performed by the brass ensemble. a melody like tracks by the Beatles, Michael Jackson or Italian canzones.
Young vocal soloist Doris Deković sang at the concert, while Sofija Franović and Nevila Klakor performed solo on mandolin and violin. A special guest of the concert was the vocal nonet of the Tivat Music School under the direction of Tamara Fistrić.
The GPD "Tivat" concert, according to tradition, ended with Strauss's "Radetzky March" in the manner that the Vienna Philharmonic does at its famous New Year's concerts.
