The premiere of the choreography "Liver", by the author Theodore Kip, will be performed today in Podgorica in the premises of the Podgorica Museum and Gallery at 20 p.m., and admission is free.

The author found the dramaturgical basis for the musical-stage choreo-drama "Liver" in the existentialist novel "Records from the Underground". Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky, navodi se saopštenju.

"The underground philosopher-recordist, whose thoughts we follow in the novel, deals with human psychology, mostly the shadow, the dark, subtle parts of our psyche, rationally and logically analyzing the way in which the human personality is tailored," the announcement reads.

The author of Kipa points out that she calls the project "Liver" for several reasons...

"Firstly, because in the first paragraph of the novel, the sentence 'I think my liver hurts' rips all the senses... The second reason is the neglected importance of that sentence when it comes to critical analysis of the entire novel. The third is the fact that the liver is the organ that is most exposed to the vagaries of an unhealthy life and is in charge of detoxification. A man can live with one kidney, he can live without a spleen, a bladder or even a stomach, but he cannot live without a liver. What gives us and the liver a little hope, but also the thematic meaning of this music-stage performance of the same name, is its persistent ability to regenerate. The question or conflict of the choreography "Liver" is of an ethical nature: Is there an alternative to the theory of reasonable egoism? The functions and specifications of the liver allow me to artistically present a subjective answer to this issue," said Kipa.

She reveals that during the performance she will also use a dance ball, i.e. a balloon.

"Since this is a novel that deals with moral weaknesses, taking the passion of pride as a representative and most cunning weakness, I decided to base the concept of this work on that sin. In accordance with the above, I will use a dance ball - a balloon (a transparent ball often used for performances related to dance, but also as a professional tool for dancers, performers and acrobats; often placed in water) metaphorically representing a tendency towards arrogance and self-love: it looks big, in fact it is deflated and simply bloated," said Kipa.

Her project was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City, Museums and Galleries of Podgorica, BUNT scena and Studio Žiža Art.
