Culture is a key segment in building and preserving the identity of the city and the country, and it is everyone's duty to nurture and improve it, said the mayor of Podgorica, Olivera Injac, who met with the Minister of Culture and Media, Tamara Vujović.
"Therefore, the capital city, as a center of cultural events in Montenegro which is active in this regard throughout the year, works dedicatedly to strengthen the cultural scene and provides continuous support to numerous institutions and events", said Injac.
The capital announced that the mayor and the minister discussed "numerous topics of importance" for the improvement of institutional cooperation and cooperation in the field of culture and art.
Injac emphasized that today's meeting represents a step forward towards achieving common goals and that the cooperation between the Capital City and the Ministry will be fruitful in the coming period, and that new projects will significantly enrich the cultural offer of Podgorica. First of all, as stated, the construction of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Natural History and the House of Architecture on the site of the Morača Barracks, as well as the future valorization of the former dungeon "Jusovača" and numerous others, have been announced.
Vujović said that the Ministry and the capital have a good cooperation in the field of culture, but both sides recognize the space to improve it and make it more qualitative and meaningful.
"To our mutual satisfaction, one of the main projects that connects us is the construction of a new cultural facility in the green heart of Podgorica, a project of the MSU, the Museum of Natural History and the House of Architecture. The conceptual solution that won first place in the international competition already represents an achievement of architecture and art in itself and a tribute to modernity. The uniqueness of the location, which is reserved for culture, says a lot about the culture we want to build for future generations, an accessible, green, inclusive culture as a connecting point and headquarters that will inspire and promote the achievements of our contemporary identity," said Vujović. adding that this project will have the full support of the Ministry.
At the meeting, as announced, the need to strengthen citizens' awareness of the importance of books and reading was emphasized, and that in this sense the International Book Fair and the Podgorica Book Fair have a special role.
"It was concluded that there are a large number of cultural events and manifestations in the capital that the Ministry supports through its competition policies and will continue to support in the coming period, in order to return culture to its rightful place with joint efforts," the announcement concludes.
