Famous American actress Anne Hathaway has revealed that in the early 2000s, the producers of a film she starred in asked her to kiss a dozen actors who auditioned to play alongside her, describing the experience as disgusting.
She said in an interview with "V Magazine" that at the time it was normal to ask an actress to kiss other actors in order to "test the chemistry between them".
"They said, 'A dozen guys are coming in today, and you got the part, aren't you excited to kiss all of them? And I wondered if there was something wrong with me, because I wasn't excited. I thought how does that sound? disgusting," the actress said.
Hathaway, who won an Oscar for her role in "Les Miserables" and will soon be seen in the romantic comedy "The Idea of You," said she accepted the request out of fear that a backlash could jeopardize her career.
"I was so young and terribly aware of how easy it is to lose everything if you're labeled as difficult, so I pretended to be excited and did it. It wasn't a power play, no one was trying to be mean to me or hurt me. That was simply a different time, and now we know better," the actress pointed out.
