At the end of November 2023, the running team from Serbia BURT (Belgrade Urban Running Team) participated in The Speed Project (TSP), a 500-kilometer relay race in Atacama, Chile, the driest desert in the world, and ran in just over 35 hours. , won first place and broke the record of this harsh course.
Agelast production accompanied them in this, as they say, the biggest physical and mental challenge so far, both for the runners and for the production itself. The result is the film "Race to the End of the World", which was released on the Agelast YT channel after several months of filming. .
"With the members of BURT, we traveled to the southern hemisphere where, in the heart of the driest desert in the world, deep in the Andes, they ran a race through a section that is also called the "Ruta del fin del mundo" (the road to the end of the world) and is the southernmost point of Latin America. In addition to the altitude of up to 3400 meters, it is characterized by temperature differences of over 30 degrees during the day, winds, sand and dust. The BURT team not only ran this course, but also achieved incredible success, and this is a film about that experience," said Galeb Nikačević, director of the film.
"When we found out where we are going, what awaits us and who our competition is, and bearing in mind our logistical and racing readiness, it would be an absolute success if we were among the first five teams. "We didn't even know what the current track record was before the finish line, because we didn't expect that we could be the ones who could break it and compete for first place," added Aleksa.
Preparations began in April, and shooting in August. A month after returning from Chile, after a lot of effort and a series of technical and financial difficulties, the second episode of the series "Far Away" by Agelast production was released.
"I have known the BURT team for a very long time. We knew we wanted to do this when they called us, we knew what our task was, just as they knew theirs. But what no one knew was how much of a test it would be for all our abilities and power of storytelling. This journey brought us to the edge of our production and emotional capacities, we were tested on several fronts. The fact that we successfully came out of it is, on the one hand, a great confirmation for us, and on the other, a great experience was gained, not many of them can boast of documentary content from the desert on the other side of the world, and in the market conditions in which we live . Which shows that, although difficult, it is possible because people have a need for such content. That makes every next feat easier and more likely to happen for us", Galeb looked back and announced that they are preparing a new episode from this series.
