Just on Women's Day, two Croatian singer-songwriters decided to join forces and promote a duet song they recorded. Nela Djindjic i Nika Turkovic yesterday they presented the joint song "Mogu i sama", for which they signed the lyrics and music together.
From participating in the first season of the television music competition The Voice in Croatia, through the A side, to the debut of "Melodrama", Nela became an impressive part of the regional music scene, appreciated for her exceptional vocal and authorial qualities, and she had the opportunity to perform at the Montenegrin festival City Groove. Her singles regularly occupy high places on the charts, and with the singles "Nebo gori" and "Nepokoriva" she announced major changes in her sound, while the complete second album will be released in 2024. Nika Turković is one of the most successful young singer-songwriters whose acclaimed debut album "11" was twice at the top of the best-selling editions in Croatia. And Nika's new release is planned for the current year, ideally heralded by the single "It Makes Sense" which was released at the end of 2023.
The two are friends, so the collaboration was a logical sequence.
"Rarely any of Nika's concerts would pass without me in the audience. I know almost all her songs by heart and I adore the way she 'sees', creates and interprets music. Besides, Nika is my friend, so it was natural for us to team up. The whole process was very fun and interesting, somewhat therapeutic. We laughed a lot, had serious conversations, made up ideas, played music, sent new ideas every day, were honest in everything. 'I can do it myself' began with that sentence, but it also ends with it, underlining everything we wanted to say and what is important. For Women's Day, we say that you don't have to do everything alone, but you can," she said about the new single Nela, describing this musical collaboration.
"Nela and I have been friends for years, and apart from loving her as a person, she is one of my favorite singers and artists from our area. The song began to be created at a music session with Jan Jakovljev, the text and music are signed by the two of us, and it's our first such venture, so I'm very satisfied with how we worked together and complemented each other creatively. The song is our little anthem, from women for women and all those who feel that way, and that's exactly why we're giving it away for Women's Day. This was possibly my favorite project of my life overall, and it turned out exactly how I imagined it in my wildest dreams. And better," Nika added.
The recording of the song is signed Mihovil Šoštarić Lockroom, and spot Benjamin Strike i Dario Radusin. The video was shot in the baroque castle of St. Začretje cross, which she owns Mirna Mršić Flogel, one of Croatia's most recognized scientists, and the location is perfect for the aesthetics that Nela and Nika envisioned.
The single "Mogu i sama" is a joint release of Aquarius and Croatia Records.
