Almost 30 years after The Simpsons joked that Cypress Hill accidentally booked a performance by the London Symphony Orchestra, a hip-hop group is making it a reality.
The collective from Los Angeles announced that they will be joined by an orchestra with more than 70 members this summer. He will perform on July 10 in London's Royal Albert Hall, reports Muzika.hr.
In a 1996 episode of the popular animated series "The Simpsons" called "Homerpalooza," Cypress Hill teamed up with the LSO when the orchestra appeared for their performance at "Hullabalooza," a parody of Chicago's Lollapalooza music festival. In this episode, Homer Simpson takes the family on a trip to an alternative rock festival. It was an attempt to prove to his children, Bart and Lisa, that he was "still cool".
Cypress Hill appeared in the episode along with rock bands Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth. In the climax of the episode, a character appears backstage and asks who hired the London Symphony Orchestra. After the absence of an answer, he accuses members of the band Cypress Hill.
The announced concert is another example of how The Simpsons seem to predict the future. These include the episodes in which Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency, and Lady Gaga performed at the Super Bowl.
“We are delighted to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra in such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall. It's a dream come true, a collaboration that only The Simpsons could have predicted," they said ahead of a concert from Cypress Hill, who are preparing for the "We Legalized It" tour, which will begin in April in North America.
