British indie rock singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya has released a new single after a two-year hiatus. Along with the song "Like I Say (I Runaway)" comes the news that Yanya has signed a contract with the cult label Ninja Tune.
Her sister Molly Daniel directed the video for the new single, which portrays the singer as a runaway bride. The singer-songwriter explained that the new song is about how we choose to spend our time.
"Time is like money, every moment. You'll never get it back. That's a pretty hard thought to digest," she said.
Yanya, a singer of Turkish roots, with her debut album "Miss Univers" in 2019 won critics and drew attention to herself with music that is described as restless and nervous jumping from one musical style to another, combining rock, soul, jazz and trip hop influences. Her second album "Painless" was released in 2022.
