Festive events such as the Golden Globes or the Oscars do not only attract movie lovers. It is on them that every detail is important, so it is not surprising that the red carpet and how certain stars were dressed is talked about for days after the end of it. The first days of 2024 brought awards to the best when it comes to American film and television production, but much more was caused by those who drew attention with the creation they wore, whether it was bad or good.

One of those who had the opportunity to wear his creations on the red carpet is the designer from Montenegro, Ibrahim Vukelj. He has been living and working in New York for years, and this time he enthusiastically followed everything that happened at the Golden Globes with a special emphasis on the creations that the big stars wore during it.

"After the holiday season ends, which I usually spend at gatherings with family, relatives, friends, I like to spend my free time watching what my favorite stars are doing. I am especially interested in all events that have a red carpet and that, regardless of what it was about, exude a touch of glamour. That's why it was inevitable that I would accompany the awarding of the Golden Globe, which opens the season of glamorous events in the world, and see off who will shine on the red carpet. I liked the way she looked the most Elizabeth Debicki who chose a Dior creation for this occasion. The woman literally dazzled everyone in a creation so sophisticated that she looked perfect on the red carpet," Ibrahim Vukelj believes.

Sequins are in fashion this year, so not only Elizabeth was in a sequined dress at the ceremony, but many others opted for this variant. About whether sequins add a touch of glamor and how thin is the line so that it does not turn into kitsch, the interlocutor of "Vijesti" explains:

"When you wear a creation where sequins are used, but in one color, it can, as in the case of the dress worn by Elizabeth, make it look glamorous, sophisticated, perfect. However, if it is a creation that is glittery and colorful, that line will most likely be crossed and it will certainly be kitsch rather than beautiful and classy", advises Vukelj.

Most of the stars who appeared at the awards went for the safe option - a black suit or dress. Although black is elegant and for all occasions, Vukelj reveals how much you should choose something bolder for such glamorous events:

"I have to admit that I myself am a fan of the color black, so I would always choose creations in that color, or white and red, for events like this. When you decide on some bolder colors you have to be aware of the risks because not every shade is for every person. Perhaps the most problematic are purple, orange, pink... When you choose creations in the mentioned colors, you must take care of every detail. The color of the skin, hair, but also the make-up - lipstick and eye shadow - must work perfectly with the creation you are wearing. If a mistake is made there, the effect will not be good, and that person will look more ridiculous than glamorous on the red carpet", believes Vukelj.

It is precisely at events like this that big stars usually opt for the creations of celebrated designers. The designer says about how sometimes someone's signature on a dress or suit gives an additional "touch of glamour" to make that person even more noticeable on the red carpet:

"That's the point. Namely, as soon as the star chooses a creation, the work for the creator begins. Everything has to be perfect - to fit perfectly, but also the accompanying details like make-up and hairstyle must be at the service of the model wearing them. If everything is not perfect, the star will not be noticed, or will be on the worst dressed list, which means that the team that worked on that project has 'failed'. I'll never forget when it was Rihanna wore a red silk creation Azzedine Alaje. There was nothing to add or take away. Simply - everything was outstanding. It was the criticism she received about her appearance that pushed Azzedine and her brand into the public spotlight, and thanks to that Rihanna's appearance, she is still competitive when it comes to such glamorous events," recalled Vukelj, who has been living and creating in America for decades. He had the opportunity to present his creations within the New York Fashion Week, but also at Montenegrin fashion events. As someone who lives in one of the world's fashion centers, New York, he discovers whether such events "dictate fashion":

"When it comes to everyday fashion, they certainly don't dictate, but they certainly influence the choice of creations for festive occasions. Women always try to shine, whether it's a festive event or an everyday obligation, most of them know how to find the right measure - which creation is for the red carpet, and what should be worn in the store or when going out for coffee with a friend", Vukelj concludes. .
