While we are still waiting for spring and the season of strawberries and cherries, it is wise to rely on good, faithful apples. Cakes with apples are made in countless varieties, and the one we propose simply smells like homemade. The ingredients are simple, and the preparation process is not too complicated either. Who cares - the cake is fast.

ingredients:

Yellow peel:

 • 2 cups of sugar
 • 2 cups oil
 • 2 cups of sparkling mineral water
 • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
 • grated zest of 1 lemon
 • 7 full spoons of flour

(the measure is an 80ml coffee cup)

Black Crust:

 • 2 cups of sugar
 • 2 cups oil
 • 2 cups of sparkling mineral water
 • 7 full spoons of flour
 • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
 • 1 teaspoon of cocoa

(it is necessary to bake two such crusts, the measurement is for one)

File:

 • 250 g of sugar
 • 250 ml of water
 • 500 g of grated apples
 • 150-200 g ground walnuts

Additionally:

 • jam/jam to taste
 • chopped walnuts for decoration

Preparation:

Heat the oven to 180 degrees.

Put baking paper in a baking tray measuring approximately 18x28cm.

Mix all the necessary ingredients for the yellow crust, pour the mixture into a baking tray and bake for about 30 minutes. Check with a toothpick whether the crust is cooked. After removing the baked crust from the oven, leave it in the tray for a few minutes, then turn it over on a tray, remove the paper and leave it to cool.

Beat all the necessary ingredients for the black crust, then repeat the same procedure as with the yellow crust. Bake in the same way as the first crust.

Mix the sugar and water, add the grated apples and cook while stirring until the excess liquid evaporates and the apples are soft. Remove from heat, add ground walnuts and mix well to combine. Divide the filling into three parts.

Place the first black crust on a suitable tray, spread it with a few spoonfuls of jam or jam (to taste), then apply one part of the filling. Put the yellow crust on top, cover it with jam and apply the second part of the filling. Put the second black crust and cover it with jam and filling.

Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.

Additional tip: In order for the crust and filling to come together nicely, the cake can be covered with plastic wrap, then pressed with a heavier object and left overnight. In any case, cut the cake and serve it after it has rested for a day or two.
