Interior Minister Danilo Saranović will propose police officer Lazar Šćepanović as acting director of the Police Administration.
He, Šaranović claims in his statement, submitted the best proposal for emergency measures aimed at reforming the Police Administration, achieving the maximum level of operational efficiency and increasing capacity against all forms of crime, he performed best during the interview and did not lie on any of the questions asked during the polygraph examination.
Šaranović reminded that the temporary director of the Police Administration is appointed by the Government based on the law only on the proposal of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
"Seven interested persons applied to the public call, in order of application, namely: Zoran Braunović, Milentije Doderović, Milutin Vasiljević, Aleksandar Radović, Petar Šestović, Miloš Peković and Lazar Šćepanović. Police officers Miloš Peković, Zoran Braunović, Aleksandar Radović, Lazar Šćepanović, Petar Šestović and Milutin Vasiljević submitted complete documentation, indicating that they are the heads of organizational units of the Police Administration, which was one of the conditions for the application. Police officer Milentije Doderović is not the head of any organizational unit of the Police Administration, so his application was not considered." , Saranović announced.
All registered police officers, he added, gave their unequivocal consent to the polygraph test.
"I conducted an interview with all the registered police officers, reviewed the attached documentation and analyzed their proposals for urgent measures aimed at reforming the Police Administration, achieving the maximum level of operation and increasing capacity against all forms of crime, about which I am submitting detailed information to the Government today. I will also submit to the Government of Montenegro internal information on the results of the polygraph examination of police officers interested in acting director of the Police Administration".
Šaranović said that two police officers passed the polygraph test, four police officers did not, and that the polygraph test of one is not relevant due to his health circumstances, and whose report is incomplete.
"According to Article 16 paragraph 4 of the Law on Internal Affairs, I have decided to propose to the Government of Montenegro police officer Lazar Šćepanović as acting director of the Police Administration, who submitted the best proposal for urgent measures aimed at reforming the Police Administration, achieving the maximum level of operational efficiency and increasing capacity against all form of criminality, performed best during the interview and did not lie on any of the questions asked during the polygraph examination".
Šaranović points out in the statement that he hereby confirms "that I would never propose a candidate for acting director of the Police Administration who did not answer truthfully during the polygraph examination".
"I remind you that in accordance with Article 16 paragraph 4 of the Law on Internal Affairs, the Government appoints the Acting Director of the Police Directorate exclusively on the proposal of the Minister of Internal Affairs, and as I have already decided that the police officer Lazar Šćepanović will be a candidate for the Acting Director of the Police Directorate, I emphasize that other interested parties "There are no candidates for the acting director of the Police Directorate, and the Government cannot decide on them, which I will inform the Government about in writing. After this polygraph test, and using the same method, there will be a fundamental personnel reform within the entire police apparatus and the sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," he concluded.
