SDT: Perović obtained for herself and others a property benefit of over 60.000 euros, a second case was opened on vehicle abuse

The arrested director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, is accused of obtaining financial benefits for herself and others in the total amount of over 60.000 euros, and in another case, whether she misused an official car, the spokesperson of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) told "Vijesta" and special prosecutor Vukas Radonjić.

SDT said that in with the aim of providing complete and objective information to the public, "and regarding the statements of defense attorney Perović (lawyer Nikola Martinović) and certain public figures and reporting by certain media on the state of the proceedings against the detained suspect, we inform you that the investigation was initiated due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the suspect committed a prolonged criminal offense of abuse official position".

Radonjić said that from the evidence, data and information collected in the investigation, there are grounds for suspicion that Perović, as an official and public official in the period from August 2020 to February 2024, exceeded the limits of her official authority and thus obtained property for herself and others. benefit.

"... Because, contrary to the Law on Salaries of Employees in the Public Sector, she made decisions by which she increased her salary based on overtime, that is, for the variable part of her salary and decisions by which she determined compensation for membership in certain work groups that she herself formed , although the adoption of those decisions is exclusively within the competence of the Council of the Agency as the body that elects the director of the Agency, i.e. because, in the period from January to July last year, it made temporary decisions establishing the right to compensation for the president and members of the Council, even though the adoption of such decisions under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Parliament of Montenegro, which elects the members of the Council of the Agency, and thus obtained a financial benefit for itself and others in the total amount of over 60.000 euros," said Radonjić.

According to him, the subject of the initiated procedure is not the possible misuse of an official vehicle, about which a separate criminal case was formed in the SDT following a report from the Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector, in which the investigation is also underway, "but rather the irregularities noted by the inspection supervision of the Budget Inspection of the Ministry of Finance, which submitted the official documents to the Special State Prosecutor's Office after the completed supervision.

"Certainly, in the latest initiated investigative procedure against the suspect, the official documentation of the Agency, which the police temporarily confiscated during the search of the Agency's headquarters, but also which the Agency submitted at the request of the SDT, will be evaluated, in order to determine the basis of suspicion as to whether they are part of the extended criminal offense and other illegal actions of the suspect, except those for which the proceedings were initiated," said Radonjić.

The director of ASK was arrested yesterday at her workplace. Today, she was detained for 72 hours.
