The director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, was released to defend herself, after she was heard tonight by the investigating judge of the High Court in Podgorica, Suzana Mugoša.
She was arrested two days ago, and the Special State Prosecutor's Office accuses her of abusing her official position and illegally obtaining material benefits for herself and others in the amount of more than 60.000 euros, in the period from August 2020 to February 2024.
"The SDT's proposal to place the defendant PJ in custody was rejected, while according to the same surveillance measures, a ban on leaving the apartment, a ban on access and meetings with certain persons, and confiscation of her travel document," Marija Raković, an independent relations advisor, told Vijesti. with the public of the Podgorica High Court.
The acting prosecutor ordered Jelena Perović to be detained for up to 72 hours yesterday.
Her defense attorney, lawyer Nikola Martinović, said that she denied committing the crime before the prosecutor.
Prosecutors in a separate criminal case are determining whether the director of ASK also misused the official car.
