The authors of the study on the feasibility of the remaining four sections of the Bar - Boljare highway today presented route variants and their maps.

They explained that the most complicated was the section Đurmani - Farmaci, for which they analyzed four variants.

The construction of the remaining four sections of the highway is feasible and economically profitable, if there is no drop in the expected traffic or an increase in the expected costs, it was stated in the justification study of the highway Bar - Boljare.

Due to the obligation to protect the area of the Skadar Lake, two variants were rejected that provided for the passage of the highway directly across the lake.

As the most optimal, the variant that leads across the Rijeka Crnojevića and in a total length of 200 meters enters the current zone of the national park.

The remaining three sections are from Farmak to Smokovac, for which the crossing over the Zeta River, which is protected as a nature park, is problematic, then from Mateševo to Andrijevica and from Andrijevica to Boljar, where the option of building an expressway was analyzed.

The construction of all four remaining sections would cost 1,24 billion euros.

The study was financed through the program of the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans (WBIF) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the document is necessary so that Montenegro can apply for money from European funds.

The project leader for the preparation of the study was Martin Osborn, and the team members were Pepi Dimopoulou, Konstantin Siderovski, Džorž Limberopoulos and Alika Charuši, expert consultants of WBIF.
