The billionaires on the Forbes list hold most of their wealth in the shares of the companies they founded. As the prices of those stocks move, so does their wealth. This is not the case here, because private companies are generally not joint-stock companies and do not have their shares listed on the domestic, nor on any of the world's stock exchanges. In order to determine their value, the balance sheets of those companies must be analyzed and compared, which is a big and time-consuming job, says Biljana Matijašević, editor of the edition. Forbes for Montenegro, talking about the lists of the richest people in the world, for which this economic magazine is perhaps best known.

Matijašević points out that the first reactions in Montenegro to the online edition of Forbes are very favorable and that readers come in with positive comments, because they were given the opportunity to read in their own language about the richest people in the world, interesting business ideas, technological challenges...

What makes Forbes stand out from other media?

Forbes' mission is to give people the knowledge, resources, inspiration and connections they need to succeed. And this is what Forbes is recognized for in the world and what makes it different from other media.

It is present in more than 70 countries and is synonymous with top economic journalism and exceptional understanding of the global business environment.

Forbes was founded in 1917 and has been providing in-depth insights into the world of business, economics, investment and innovation for more than a century. He researches successful entrepreneurs, analyzes global and local trends, and creates stories that motivate and shape leaders around the world.

What are the first reactions since the launch of the digital edition in Montenegro?

Since mid-November, thanks to the United Media group, Forbes is also present in Montenegro and the countries of the region - Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia.

In Montenegro, the online edition of Forbes was launched in cooperation with "Vijesti" and the first reactions exceeded expectations. People respond with positive comments, because they were given the opportunity to read in their own language about the richest people in the world, interesting business ideas, technological challenges... everything that Forbes International offers.

Are there good business ideas in Montenegro, entrepreneurs who need media support to start their business?

Of course there is. On Forbes website we have already promoted several of them, and there will be more such stories. The goal is to promote our entrepreneurs, innovators, good business ideas and thus be a "window to the world" for our business people. In addition, we want to bring our business people closer to the way of doing business of large global corporations and the most famous businessmen, so that they can improve their business and eliminate all management deficiencies.

How interested are citizens today in economic stories?

They are read, but less than political stories and black chronicles. But that is also understandable, given the low standard of our citizens, who are only interested in the economic sphere of whether wages and pensions will be increased and whether prices in stores will rise. With the strengthening of the Montenegrin economy, the standard of living will also strengthen, and Forbes can make a significant contribution to this through the promotion of Montenegrin companies and entrepreneurs.

Forbes magazine is very well known for its lists and rankings, including lists of the richest. What other lists does Forbes publish?

Forbes regularly updates the lists of the richest people in the world. In November, for example, among the ten richest are Elon Musk, Bernard Arnault, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates...

Their wealth is measured in billions of dollars.

In addition to the richest people in the world, Forbes also publishes many other lists, such as: the richest football players, NBA players, then the most influential people under 30, among whom is our own Tamara Rađenović. There is also a list of the most powerful women in the world, the best employers, restaurants and bars...

Can we expect lists of the richest?

The billionaires on the Forbes list hold most of their wealth in the shares of the companies they founded. As the prices of those stocks move, so does their wealth.

This is not the case here, because private companies are generally not joint-stock companies and do not have their shares listed on the domestic, nor on any of the world's stock exchanges. In order to determine their value, the balance sheets of those companies must be analyzed and compared, which is a big and time-consuming job.

We know from past experience that the richest in the region are politicians, state officials and "transition winners", i.e. businessmen connected to the former authorities who acquired wealth in a dubious way during the transition period when a large number of state-owned enterprises collapsed and thousands of workers lost their jobs.

For politicians and state officials, there is information on assets on the website of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), because they are obliged to submit it. However, no one controls these data, so the question is how accurate they are.

Certainly, Forbes will try to make such lists at the regional level.
