The Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North will intensify cooperation with the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) through various initiatives, announced the responsible minister Vladimir Martinović.

At the meeting with the General Director of UN Tourism Zurab Pololikashvili at the Fair in Berlin, he said that this would include the possibility of sending officials to the headquarters of the organization in order to gain a better insight into the work and organization of this prestigious world institution.

Martinović, as announced by the Ministry, emphasized the importance of the previous partnership and opened the door for further cooperation and development of tourism.

Pololikashvili said that he is glad that ecology and sustainable development are part of the Ministry and that they have equal views on rural tourism and its development.

The Ministry said that in the conversation special emphasis was placed on the importance of promoting and attracting investments to Montenegro.

Martinović said that they recognize the importance of promoting the country's unique tourist attractions and creating a stimulating environment for investors in order to further encourage tourism development.

"We will continue to work together with UNTO and other relevant partners in order to achieve the goals of sustainable tourism development and contribute to the further prosperity of Montenegro as an attractive tourist destination," said Martinović.

The Ministry said that the meeting also discussed the development of rural tourism in Montenegro, where Martinović asked for support.

UN tourismam selected two Montenegrin villages - Godine and Gornja Lastva - from 44 villages from 32 countries in the Improvement Program - Best tourismam villages, which received technical support for improving competitiveness.

"I am delighted that two Montenegrin villages have become part of the UN initiative for tourism. This is an important step towards creating more inclusive and sustainable tourism for future generations," said Pololikashvilij.

Tourism development strategy for the period 2023-2025. year, which received a positive opinion from UN tourism, is a fundamental document for further guiding the development of tourism in Montenegro.
