The Parliamentary Club of the Citizens' Movement URA submitted to the parliamentary procedure the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance which, as they said, will allow for the first time that the minimum amount of pension in Montenegro of 450 euros also applies to beneficiaries of proportional pensions .

They remind that the increase of minimum pensions to 450 euros in December last year did not include beneficiaries of proportional pensions

"They today, in the largest number, receive pensions that are significantly lower than the minimum pension of 450 euros, and for the majority of these beneficiaries, these incomes are not sufficient for a decent life and basic existence," said MP URA Ana Novaković Đurović at the press conference in the Assembly.

He says that the reason why they are now submitting this bill and the conclusion of the Assembly from December 2023.

"It reads - The Parliament of Montenegro charges the Government of Montenegro to propose further dynamics of pension increases by the end of March 2024 at the latest, with special reference to increasing the amount of pensions for beneficiaries of proportionate pensions. As you can conclude, today is April 16, the Government has not acted according to this conclusion, and it is not in accordance with the deadline set by the Parliament, which is the end of March this year, it proposed a further increase in pensions, including an increase in pensions for beneficiaries of proportionate pensions , in order to prevent this injustice and discriminatory attitude towards pensioners"

She emphasized that the proposed law implies that the amount of the minimum pension of 450 euros applies to beneficiaries of proportional pensions in the total amount per beneficiary.

"So, that means - not only for the part of the pensions they receive in Montenegro, but also for the part of the pensions they receive in another country," said MP Novaković Đurović.

URA says that any changes to the law would apply from January 1, 2025, in order to enable the Government to adequately plan these funds in the budget for the following year.
