The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, headed by Minister Filip Radulović, supported the initiative to enable seafarers to communicate online with the Port Authorities and shorten the waiting time for obtaining documents and certificates issued by them.

This was announced by the Seamen's Union of Montenegro from Kotor (UPCG) after a meeting with representatives of the ministry regarding this initiative of one of the members of the Union.

The idea is to provide seafarers with electronic, on-line communication with the Port Authority, shorten the waiting period and simplify seafarers' obligations.

The plan is to enable the seafarer, among other things, with the new software - to download the data required for the procedures for the first issuance, renewal or exchange of the brevet, to start the application and recognition of online electronic payment slips for various fees, so that seafarers would not waste time in lines at banks or of post offices, sending requests for the first issuance, renewal or replacement of the brevet in an electronic package with all the necessary documents. The idea is also to stop the practice of issuing and requesting unnecessary documents, which in case of extreme need can be requested for inspection when taking over the documentation.
