Montenegro and Greece are committed to strengthening cooperation in the field of improving tourism, it was assessed at the meeting of the Montenegrin Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović, and the Greek Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalojani.
At the meeting, which was held as part of the conference called Our Ocean in Athens, Martinović thanked Greece for its interest in signing a memorandum of cooperation, which will further improve the connection between the two countries in the tourism sector.
The Ministry of Tourism stated that Kefalojani said that she hopes that the memorandum will be signed by the end of the year.
At the meeting, it was assessed that Montenegro and Greece should be partners considering that they share the same challenges in tourism, which mainly relies on the sun and the sea.
Martinović added that the exchange of experiences and establishing cooperation in the field of eco-tourism development is important, especially taking into account the great natural potential of Montenegro.
He said that adequate management of protected areas could be key to the development of a new tourist offer, as well as that the relevant Ministry initiates the development of the northern region, which is characterized by exceptional natural wealth.
Kefalojani announced that Greece, in accordance with the strategy, plans to intensify activities on the development of various forms of tourism, such as wellness, spa, cultural and religious, which are also an opportunity for cooperation.
At the meeting, it was assessed that in all activities it is necessary to respect environmental protection criteria and contribute to global efforts to protect all ecosystems, especially in the context of the fight against climate change.
The participants also added that an exchange of good examples and practices would certainly be welcome, especially since Montenegro and Greece are very much oriented towards the tourist offer in terms of the use of the coast and the sea.
