The pre-qualification tender for the Mateševo-Andrijevica highway section should start today or tomorrow, announced the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić.

"The main tender will last for two months. We have already started the implementation of the project, we are listening to the parties in the municipalities of Kolašin and Andrijevica. Every year, 5.000 people leave the north of Montenegro, due to the impossibility of 'seeing each other in that environment'. The tender will be published on the website of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)," said Spajić at a media conference in the Government.

He said that they expect increased interest from investors by the end of this year, for the Vasojević region, which, he said, is the poorest in the country.

"The implementation of the project will start at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year, which is a year and a half faster than planned. Conceptual solutions for 10 roads have been launched. This is the vision of Montenegro that we should all support. When we push through these projects, we have enabled the future, not not only this, but also the next few generations. We understand our political competitors, that they don't understand how we succeeded," said Spajić.

The executive director of "Monteput" Milan Ljiljanić said at the conference that the pre-qualification tender is ready.

"We are just waiting for the announcement on the EBRD website. Two months for the application, and after that there is the selection of the contractor, and then the main tender, which lasts for two months. In parallel with that, the expropriation of the land is going on. We will enter this project ready, the construction period is five years ", he said.

He added that the completion of the project will be at the end of 2029.

"I think that we will quickly have the preliminary project from Andrijevica to Boljar concluded," said Ljlijanic.

He said that two more tenders will be announced for high-speed roads - from Smokovac to Božaj and from Danilovgrad to Nikšić.

"The planned highways are 260 kilometers long, and the expressways are 220 kilometers long," said Ljiljanić.

Spajić said that the northeast of Montenegro is becoming a kind of regional center, and that the highway from Andrijevica will branch on three sides - one towards Kosovo, the second towards Serbia, the third towards Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
