The situation regarding the representation of Albanians in state and local government bodies in Plav and Gusinje is critical, it was assessed at the meeting of the Vice President of the Assembly Genci Nimanbegu with representatives of Albanian political subjects in those municipalities.
As reported by the Assembly, on Tuesday, at their invitation, Nimanbegu had a working meeting with representatives of all Albanian political subjects in the municipalities of Plav and Gusinje, as well as with members of the National Council of Albanians from those municipalities.
"They informed the vice president about the problems and their dissatisfaction in the realization of their basic rights, and the situation regarding the representation of Albanians in the local and state authorities in those municipalities was assessed as critical," the statement said.
As stated, the issue of employment of Albanians, both in state and local bodies and institutions, was highlighted.
"This greatly affects the emigration of young Albanians, who do not see any perspective in improving their position", was assessed at the meeting.
It was announced that the local representatives of the Albanians from Plav and Gusinje met the highest statesmen of Montenegro, such as the Prime Minister, with these problems, but without visible results.
It was established that the problem in authentic representation and employment of Albanians occurs due to weak implementation of existing laws.
"The topic of the meeting was the recent events with the Serbian Orthodox Church in the village of Martinaj, and in connection with the announced construction of a religious building in a place without a single member of the Orthodox faith," the statement said.
As stated, the meeting was evaluated as a useful way of dialogue by the representatives of all Albanian political subjects in Plav and Gusinje.
Nimanbegu assessed that the underrepresentation of Albanians is the result of the long-term unemployment of Albanians in Plav and Gusinje.
"Also, that it is the duty of all state bodies to respect and implement the Constitutional provisions on the representation of minorities," the statement added.
