The Democratic Alliance in Montenegro celebrated its 9th anniversary on Wednesday evening, September 30, as the first national Albanian party on the Montenegrin political scene. Due to the situation with the coronavirus, a large number of members, sympathizers and friends of the party, headed by Mehmet Bardhi since the beginning of the turbulent nineties, did not attend the ceremony in a restaurant in Kruti, Vladimir.
The current president, Saubih Mehmeti, who recently replaced Bardhi in that position, gave a brief exposition of three decades of activity and work, an announcement of future plans and the continuation of the party's political engagement. Mehmeti emphasized the need for reorganization of the party and for the inclusion of young cadres, which, he said, is a clear indication that the DS in Montenegro continues on the right path and has a bright future.
Those present were greeted by Bardhi, as the honorary president of the party, then DUA leader Mehmet Zenka, DP secretary Haxhi Sulejmani...
At the ceremony, awards were given to former US Congressman Joseph Joe DioGuardi and his wife, Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi for their high contribution to solving the Albanian issue during the Milosevic regime, as well as to Bardhi for 30 years of political engagement for the protection and improvement of the rights of Albanians in Montenegro.
