The "For the Future of Šavnik" coalition announced that they will file criminal charges against certain MUP officials in that city for abuse of official position and negligent work in the service, because, as stated in the press release, the current government in that municipality, supported by individuals from the Police Station in Šavnik and the regional unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, "conducts brutal electoral engineering" by registering voters from other municipalities.
"It is about an organized criminal group made up of municipal officials, members of the local MUP, as well as persons of security interest who, from one election cycle to the next, according to a proven pattern, destroy the electoral will of the residents of this town, preventing them from deciding for themselves who will represent their interests at the local level, this has been decided for many years by instant voters brought from other municipalities just for voting purposes. What gives the activities of this organized criminal group a special criminal dimension is the fact that dozens of people register at the same addresses where the residents of Šavnik have been living for years, without their knowledge and consent. The officials of the regional unit of the MUP are solely responsible for these inactions, who issued certificates of change of residence for these persons without verifying the identity and the newly registered address, as required by the provisions of the Law on Registers of Residence Registers, while remaining silent on citizens' complaints that persons they do not know have been registered at their addresses and who have been registered without their consent", the press release states.
As stated, more than 200 newly registered voters have nothing to do with the mentioned municipality, they are not employed in Šavnik, and they have neither origin nor any family ties or property in that municipality.
"These are the people whose support and sure votes the current president of the municipality relied on when he expressed his belief in yesterday's statement to the media that he would defeat the competition with those 200 votes," the announcement reads.
As they pointed out, they have been pointing out all the irregularities and omissions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for several months continuously, but there has been no reaction from this body.
"That's why the police were more than zealous in arresting and prosecuting the members of the electoral committees of the coalition 'For the Future of Šavnik', just because we were trying to defend the electoral will of the citizens of Šavnik. We are telling the president of the municipality and all those who help him with criminal activities that only those who live in Šavnik and for whom this town is in their hearts will participate in the election of local representatives of the people, and by no means residents of other Montenegrin municipalities brought in for one-time use," the announcement reads with a note. that "criminal charges will be filed against all responsible officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for abuse of official position and negligent work in the service".
In Šavnik, the elections will be repeated on Sunday, October 30, at five polling stations - Šavnik, Bijela, Komarnica, Mokro and Kruševice. Almost 41,72 percent of voters in that municipality (821) were registered in the mentioned places.
According to the president of the MEC, Dušan Radanović, individual voters are not allowed to vote at those polling stations, while according to him, some members of the polling committees have stolen part of the ballots.
According to Radanović, the DPS-SD coalition, which is in power in that municipality, won 18 votes in 429 polling stations, while the coalition for the future of Savnik, which consists of the Socialist People's Party, the New Serbian Democracy and the Democratic People's Party, won 474 votes. The coalition of Democrats, Europe Now and United Montenegro won 80 votes.
The turnout in Šavnik was 50,53 percent, and according to Radanović, there were no complaints.
The election results give both the ruling and opposition coalitions hope that they will be the winners of the local elections. In the polling stations where the vote will be repeated, the ruling coalition achieved a majority in the previous elections, especially in the polling station in the town.
The opposition pointed out that their advantage in 18 polling stations, out of 125 votes, will be enough for victory.
The elections in Šavnik were marked by criminal charges and the presence of a large number of uniformed persons who even came twice at the invitation of the president and deputy president of the electoral committee to the building of the Municipality of Šavnik.
The police in Šavnik filed eight criminal charges against 14 people (seven criminal offenses of violation of the right to vote and one criminal offense of preventing voting), and measures and actions with the competent prosecution in relation to one case are ongoing, the Police Administration announced.
"We haven't had a bigger boom since Živko Nikolić and 'Đekna'," commented a young woman from Šavnik on election day in Šavnik.
