The president of the Pravda za sve list, Vladimir Leposavić, confirmed that due to the possibility of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) achieving parliamentary status in the repeated elections, he decided to withdraw all appeals they submitted to the Constitutional Court.
In the announcement, he stated that he withdrew the appeal submitted to the Constitutional Court due to the failure of the Kolašin Municipal Election Commission to make a decision on the re-election at polling station no. 1.
"The results of repeated elections at a polling station in Cetinje showed that my recent assessment that the political system has collapsed and that the legal system is on the verge of collapse is, unfortunately, correct. Namely, the SDP, otherwise the party of the past, increased the number of votes at one polling station seat by over 200 percent in just a few weeks - winning over 80 percent of the vote, which is characteristic of only the most rigid one-party systems. That fact alone, even if there were no other irregularities, is enough to create grounds for suspicion for the Special State Prosecutor that in this case Several criminal acts were committed. Since the aforementioned party would certainly achieve parliamentary status in the next repeated elections, which were initiated by the People's Movement for Justice for All, with such actions, we decided to change our strategy as soon as possible and not allow our fight for the rule of law and equality for all before the law is misused for completely opposite political goals," the announcement states.
He adds that the intention of that Movement was not to prolong the announcement of the final results of the election "more than it is necessary to satisfy justice to its voters".
"But the information we had clearly indicated that the SDP, with its political helpers, intended to abuse the election procedures in this way as well. Protecting our reputation and the reputation of the citizens who gave us support, we decided to pursue our political and legal goals in this for the moment, let's assume the interest of a more stable and civilized political future for everyone. For the same reason, yesterday I withdrew the Objection to the omission sent to the SEC due to irregularities registered by our members at several polling stations in Podgorica, and today the remaining appeals previously sent to the Constitutional Court due to irregularities in polling stations in Bar, Budva and Nikšić. We will not submit other appeals to the Constitutional Court".
Leposavić also states that they assessed that such a decision "is in the best interest of the people who have shown their trust" in that Movement.
"Because in our pre-election program we clearly promised the establishment of the rule of law and the elimination of all forms of discrimination. Bearing in mind the will of the citizens that they expressed in these elections as well as the opportunities, or rather, the difficulties in which the whole society finds itself, we are convinced that this is the greatest the extent of justice that we can deliver to our voters at this moment, without jeopardizing their other and general interests," it states, among other things.
He adds that they wish the SDP "a happy journey into the past" and the new government "success in working in the general interest".
