The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is the port, bearer and forerunner of numerous democratic changes, which makes a difference in civilization, it was said at the forum of that party in Kotor.
Candidate for DPS vice president Elvir Zvrko said that it is important that they persist in defending the values of DPS.
"What binds us is this party, which is anti-fascist, European and civil, which is a pillar of modern and European Montenegro. In addition, DPS is also a party that is the beacon and bearer and forerunner of numerous democratic changes, which makes a difference in civilization," said Zvrko.
Zvrko said that differences of civilization separate DPS from other political opponents.
He said that the membership of the party is precisely the greatest strength of the DPS.
"This is a kind of democratic caravan, which in recent days has reached the south from Petnjica through all the cities in the north. We feel positive energy and what restores faith are all those who voted for our party on June 11 without any interests, only wanting to save together everything we fought for", concluded Zvrko.
Candidate for DPS vice president Ivan Vuković said that he was attracted to DPS by the effects and results of the party in the last 25 years.
"Because everything that was positive and worth mentioning in the previous period was the work of the government led by us," Vuković added.
DPS vice-president candidate Abaz Dizdarević said that the "weight of words" must be returned to the party.
"We have to talk to people, not listen to them. We have moved away from the people who have contributed the most to this party. That's why we have to return to those people and talk about their problems," said Dizdarević.
He said that they have the foundations left to them by their doyen.
"The legacy that has been left to us is great, and it represents, among other things, multi-confessional harmony, the preservation of which is why I got involved in active politics after 2020," said Dizdarević.
Dušan Raičević, candidate for DPS vice president, said that being in DPS is a privilege but also an obligation.
"We have agreed to take a look at what we did in the past in accordance with those obligations and be sure that we are proud of what many generations of DPS have achieved," Raičević said.
He stated that they are obliged to look at each other and in the mirror, "so that we can say where we were wrong".
"We did make mistakes, but we also showed an additional quality that is only present in our party - that we correct those mistakes," Raičević said.
He called on party members to participate in party elections on January 28, and that they will not make a mistake whichever candidate they vote for.
Živković: The current government has shown that it is not up to the task
Candidate for DPS president Danijel Živković said that Kotor, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, "deserves a government that will appreciate and promote its values".
"Unfortunately, the current Democratic government has shown that it is not up to the task. Instead of promoting the development and prosperity of the city, we are witnessing stagnation and missed opportunities," said Živković.
He pointed out that he will not back down in the face of obstacles or hide from opponents, and that "now is the right time to go out on the field and win."
"We have shown that the DPS remains loyal to its ideas, values and vision of a European Montenegro, regardless of whether we act from the government or from the opposition. Internal party elections are an opportunity to show the strength and unity of our party. I fight for the DPS from any place because I proud to be part of this party. Those who stayed with us are proof that nothing can affect their commitment and thanks to them DPS exists and will be the strongest political entity in the next elections," said Živković.
He added that "on the foundations of everything good that DPS has built, from the restoration of independence to the leadership position in EU integrations", they are working on reorganizing the party, awakening new energy and affirming professional and responsible people, especially young people.
"I believe that the DPS with its personnel can bring a new impulse to Kotor, and that is why we are very ready and optimistic waiting for the upcoming local elections in this city," concluded Živković.
