German Ambassador Peter Felten congratulated Danijel Živković on his election as the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and on that occasion, as the party announced, he welcomed "DPS's commitment to democratic principles and transparent political practices that introduce new democratic standards in society, as well as perseverance in policies that promote the European path of Montenegro".
Živković met with the ambassador on business.
He introduced Felten to the activities of the DPS, with special reference to the process of direct intra-party elections, which were held for the first time in Montenegro.
Živković pointed out that the DPS showed "unity, strength and maturity" in the election processes that were carried out in the previous period, and finally in the process of internal party elections. He assessed that everything together confirms the party's readiness to "face the challenges on the political scene even stronger and more ready with the aim of assuming socio-political responsibility".
During the meeting, according to the DPS, opinions were exchanged on current processes on the political scene and it was assessed that the path of European integration of Montenegro has an alternative, especially in the context of international and regional challenges.
"Ambassador Peter Felten reiterated Germany's unequivocal support for the European integration of Montenegro, assessing that as a NATO member state and a candidate for EU membership, Montenegro is an important partner of Germany," DPS announced.
